Can Can Girls harpoon the Whalers 13-3

The Waterford Whalers drop their second game of the season 13-3 last night to Shop Rite. It was such a debauchery that the game was called after the second period due to the mercy rule. Things started out ok, for the Whalers as they manage to score 3 goals in the first period and were only down 4-3 after the first.

But it was all downhill from their. They didn't skate in the 2 period, and were giving up on forecheck chances. It was a total mess, and were taken to school by the Can Can girls.

The Whalers didn't have any fight, and quickly threw in the towel which caused the "slaughter in the second." It was 9 unanswered goals by Shop Rite which killed the Whalers and a dismal start to the season at 0-2. We caught up with head offense captain Montel after the game.

So Montel you made bold acclamations in the beginning of the year of scoring an outrageous amount of goals. I believe you made the proclamation of a 60 goal season. Now with two games into the season you have 0-goals, 0assists. How can you justify such a lackluster amount of production?

"Well at first it was my cage on my helmet that was causing my visibility of not seeing the puck. Now I believe, its my teammates who can't get me the puck in front of the net. That is where I make my living and how I can put food on the table. If nobody gets me the puck near the net, I can't score. "

To be fair this is rather tough league, it is the A division the best league around. Everyone can skate, so by you just standing in front of the net it is not helping your team. Are you going to make any adjustments to your style of play?

"I'm not a fast skater, so I don't believe in skating after a player or carrying the puck in the offense zone. I'm strictly a guy who camps out in front of the net, sits on a cushion stool, have a cup of tea, read the morning paper and wait for the puck to come in my direction."

With the terrible start of the season of 0-2, and the way you've been losing the games. Do you see any possible way the Whalers can bounce back?

"Yes, We're a very good team on paper. This is just the learning process of becoming a team. Once we figure out, how to get me the puck in front of the net we're going to be a very dominant team in this league. "

Thank you Mr. Montel.

Well the Season hasn't started out in the way of the Whalers. But their spirits are still high and will try to march on next week against the Land Sharks.

Boytanio takes a dive for season opener

Sources close to Boytanio have confirmed that he indeed took a dive for the season opener in net. The Whalers lost their first game 11-5 with Boytanio making only 8 saves, while giving up 11 goals.

"He didn't want to play the entire season in net, so he purposely let in goals, and made it look like he was a terrible goalie." an anonymous source has told the Daily Whaler.

"I know he could of at least stop of few of those shots and could of gave the Whalers a fighting chance of winning the game. But he choose to use the Sad French Clown technique he master as an intern at Cirque De So La."

The Daily Whaler tried to get an interview with one of Boytanios French Clown instructors. But one of the codes of a Sad French Clown, is to never speak a word and look miserable and depress every moment of your life.

Management has issues a statement about the allegations of Boytanio's dive
"We are fully aware of Boytanio's dive in goal for our season opener. He doesn't care about the team but rather only cares about his own well being. That is a rather cowards move and as one of our colleagues have called it a "Dick Weasel". To further clarify what a dick weasel is, it is someone who doesn't care about anyone else, and would do anything to get out of a situation. Instead of helping the team out with a valiant effort, Boytanio choose to be a "Dick Weasel" and throw the game so the Whalers would get embarrassed on opening night. "

When asked what the punishment would be for throwing a game, management had this to say.
"We've talked about releasing Boytanio, but we believe in second chances. So we're going to play Boytanio in our next game against Shop Rite, and if he pulls this Sad French Clown tactics one more time, he is going to be put on waivers."

The Whalers will try to bounce back this Wednesday and even their record at 1-1.
